FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect during my free Space Efficiency Assessment?

This time will be for evaluating whether we are a good fit for each other. The virtual visit will be about 30 minutes using Zoom. I will inquire about the challenges you face in your space and request to see the spaces you seek organizational help for. I will explain my process and answer any questions you have. Based on this initial assessment, I suggest the right organizational package for your space and budget. I will follow up with a flexible proposal where you can select the organizing package that's right for you. If someone else better meets your needs, I will connect you with another NAPO or ICD organizer.

How long will organizing my home take?

Many factors go into estimating the time it will take to organize a space, including readiness to declutter, speed of decision-making, and the amount of stuff to sift through. Each scenario is different, so the best way to get an estimate on the time it will take to organize your space is to schedule a Space Efficiency Call with me. If you have a deadline, please let me know at the time of the call so we can plan a cadence for organizing sessions that will have your home organized in time.

How do you accept payment?

I accept credit/ debit cards, check, Zelle, Venmo, and PayPal for payments before an organizing session. For hourly sessions, I also accept cash to pay for the balance of the session.

What areas of the home do you specialize in organizing?

I specialize in closets, crafting spaces, home offices, and smaller homes like apartments and condos.

Do I need to purchase any organizing products?

No. In fact, I only recommend it once we've started the decluttering and organizing process. We will use containers you already have on hand. If an organizing product will improve the use of your space, only then will I recommend it.

What does a typical organizing session with you look like?

I usually schedule a typical organizing session for about four hours. Our time together is most effective when we work together. Still, I can also organize independently and check in for your feedback along the way to ensure my work fits your unique circumstances.

What does your typical process look like?

I evaluate walkways and access points to closets and shelves to identify the best place to start. Then, we will clear walkways first, then surfaces by matching like items together, move items that don't belong in that space to their designated areas, declutter items by identifying unneeded duplicates and unused items, and then place them back in the space in an orderly fashion.

How do you handle donations?

Donation drop-offs are a benefit I offer with pre-paid packages. I will take up to a full carload of clean, unstained, and generally good-condition items to Goodwill, Salvation Army, or another thrift store with easy donation drop-off procedures. I will obtain a receipt for your records and either email it to you or bring it to our next session. If you want to donate to a different organization, I will bill for the travel and processing time to coordinate the donation at my hourly rate.
